14km Journey by supUse a SUP as your unusual craft to see the Nile.
You start in the morning near the foot of Owen Falls dam which holds back the might of Lake Victoria and head downstream with the first flows of the Nile. This calm water is an ideal place to get used to balancing on the board and your guide will teach you a few techniques for SUP.
Stopping at Bujagali we have a quick lunch before a short car journey that takes us around the next dam.
From here the tempo speeds up as we are faced with a series of rapids. Running these rapids on a SUP board is great fun and challenging even for the most experienced paddler. Good balance and reactions will keep you on your board but should you fall off you will just float down the waves and get back on your board at the bottom.
Should you make it to the bottom still on your board now is the time to celebrate and take a breath before the next rapid. And if you didn’t make, then laugh it off because SUP boarding is one of the most challenging and fun things you can do here!
The trip ends as the moving water peters out into a large lake and we again get to take life calmly enjoying our surroundings and the quiet of the river. Our takeout is now close-by with cold drinks waiting in the cooler for us to enjoy in the afternoon sun before we travel by road back to Bujagali.
