Kids Camp

Explore the beautiful calm waters of the River Nile with an experienced and professional guide.

Wanting the kids to develop a new skill or simply looking for something to entertain them over the weekend or through the school holidays, our Kids Camps are just what you are looking for. A perfect blend of learning and fun, the kids will work through our specially designed Star Award scheme with a stepping stone development model, intermixed with some fun and games in kayaks, Sit-On-Top Kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards.

Groups and Activities

The kids on the camp will be split into groups based on their ability and age, and a suitable program and range of activities is planned to match these groups. The activities are a tailored mix of learning, games, fun, challenge and we always wind into the session some kind of environmental education or action too.

Meeting Time and Location

We meet at the Kayak the Nile office at 9.30am for each camp, the office is based directly inside Explorers River Camp, Bujagali. Kayak the Nile will pop up on google maps if you search it and more info / directions here if you need it. If travelling from Kampala, it is manageable to reach us with enough time, if you leave early.

Activities for parents and smaller children

There are easy to use, Sit-On-Top kayaks (with kids seats) and Stand Up Paddleboards available throughout the two days. We’ve even done sessions in kayaks for parents keen to learn in recent weeks alongside the kids sessions. There are a range of options which we can talk through at the office on your arrival if you wish.

New Improved Star System

We have devised a new and improved Star Award system, which we believe will provide a better foundation for the Kids learning outcomes. We have expanded the Star Awards from 10 to 15, reducing the content of each star award and instilling a Stepping Stone progress model to each Star Award.

Now, instead of receiving their Star Award certificate once completing each Star Award, each student will first be given their Progress Chart before starting their new Star Award. From this they will be able to see what skills they will be learning and tested on during this Star Award.

Once they have completed all of the required stepping stones, the Progress Chart will be signed off and stamped, at which point it will become their completed Star Award. We will then issue them their next Progress Chart, again outlining the stepping stones they will work through when they next return. Ultimately, these changes will allow far more opportunity for instant analysis and feedback.

First Aid Training

Kayak the Nile now provides fully qualified first aid training courses. We are able to provide training in First Aid at Work, CPR, Paediatric First Aid, Oxygen Therapy and Anaphylaxis Management. Contact us to add a First Aid course to your Kids Camp to teach them an invaluable lifesaving skill or book up a course separately. These courses are suitable for kids and adults alike; whether a group of nannies needing Paediatric first aid including CPR and choking, teachers requiring their annual refresh or your employees needing a full 2-day course. Contact us to plan your course now!

School Group Sessions

Our specially tailored School Group Sit-On-Top Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding sessions start from the Kayak the Nile Office, on a peaceful section of the Nile suitable for all ages, abilities and adventure level. Your expert guides will take the School Group out on the calm waters, teach them the basics of controlling their Kayak or Paddleboard, enable them to explore the local river section safely and play some paddlesport games.
